Reach Out Community Center (ROCC) a not for profit (NFP), will be opening a community center in the South Lawndale neighborhood on the west side of Chicago.  ROCC will be free to youth ages 7 to 17 of all ethnic backgrounds. The center will offer a variety of life skill courses that these youths would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience.  The programs will include music, theatre, dance, art, crafts, history, writing/journalism, computer training, photography, cooking, gardening and martial arts.

The building has been purchased and plans are underway to renovate the 17,000 sq ft. gutted building. The renovations are estimated at approximately $950,000.00.

Reach Out Community Center needs your assistance in making this dream become a reality in laying the foundation for the citizens of tomorrow by helping the youth of today.

Reach Out Community Center is seeking any donations for their upcoming silent auction at the fundraising event to be held on October 15, 2010.

Dorothy Flisk is the founder and director of Reach Out Community Center (ROCC). She is passionate about helping children and is excited about your contribution and help. Dorothy's passion was awakened while attending Spring Hill College where she became involved in a program for special needs children; leading to her directing  the program in an impoverished area of Mobile.  Dorothy's path to service took her
across the country to California where she served in AmeriCorps (Domestic Peace Corp) for a year working with children.   Upon completion of her Peace Corp service she went on to attain her Masters in Counseling Psychology at The University of San Francisco; while managing & teaching at "A Better Chance School of California Autism Foundation".  Family ties and a great love for her hometown brought her back to Chicago where she attained a Masters of Jurisprudence in Child and Family Law at Loyola University.  Armed with her extensive education and work experience as it relates to children, Dorothy was now ready to make her dream come true.

Reach Out Community Center (ROCC) is an accretion of a goal formulated through community service, education and project development over the last fifteen years. Today it's Dorothy's dream to translate her experience to benefit under-privileged children by providing a safe and nurturing place where they'll have the opportunity to learn life skills.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
